Ogletree Deakins Forms Zika Rapid Response Team

ATLANTA – August 5, 2016 – Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, has formed a Zika Rapid Response Team to counsel employers on myriad legal obligations related to the Zika virus, including those involving the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) compliance, and assist with developing policies and written communications to employees regarding risks associated with the virus.

“The first known occurrence of a local mosquito-borne Zika virus transmission in the continental United States has prompted renewed concerns and questions about operational issues for U.S. employers and many of our clients,” said Michael Eckard, a shareholder in Ogletree Deakins’ Charleston office. “We’ve created our Zika Rapid Response team in order to provide real-time support of our clients’ concerns and needs.”

Ogletree Deakins’ Zika Rapid Response Team is comprised of a group of lawyers from a number of the firm’s practice groups, including Employment Law, Workplace Safety and Health, and Traditional Labor. The attorneys on the team include:
