ATLANTA – June 1, 2020 – Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, announced today its partnership with Seyfarth Shaw, Katten Muchin Rosenman, White & Case, and national organizations committed to improving diversity in the legal profession on their recently launched nationwide collaborative initiative to proactively combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on inclusion and diversity in the profession.
The initiative, called The Belonging Project, will be a virtual hub for industry organizations, law firms, diverse law students, diverse attorneys and their allies to focus on advancing inclusion and diversity during the pandemic and beyond. The Belonging Project will support diverse law students and lawyers in four ways: curated resources on a range of topics; webinars (live and recorded); a coaching program; and a mentoring program.
By working collaboratively across industry organizations and law firms, The Belonging Project creates a new network of professional and personal support to proactively grow and protect diverse legal talent.
“The Belonging Project is an important step in protecting diverse legal talent. We are thrilled to collaborate with industry partners on this important initiative as it directly aligns with Ogletree Deakins’ mission to leverage our experience and resources to support diversity and inclusion in the legal profession,” said Michelle Wimes, chief diversity and professional development officer.
