MONTRÉAL and TORONTO – April 22, 2021 – Ogletree Deakins, one of the world’s largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to announce that Hugh Christie, Managing Partner of the firm’s Toronto office, and Lucie Guimond, Managing Partner of the Montréal office, have been recognized in The 2021 Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory. This guide, which is based on an extensive peer survey process, includes profiles of leading practitioners across Canada in more than 60 practice areas and leading law firms in more than 40 practice areas.

Published since 1997, The Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory, through its comprehensive annual peer survey, acknowledges lawyers that are considered leaders in their respective fields, lawyers prominent in their practice areas and professional organizations, and lawyers otherwise enjoying significant recognition from their colleagues. Christie was named in the Employment Law (Employer) practice area and Guimond was named in Workers’ Compensation (Employer) practice area. This is both Christie and Guimond’s ninth time being listed in the directory.

Christie successfully helped build and efficiently leads Ogletree Deakins’ Toronto office. He has practiced employment law for more than 30 years and focuses his practice on a wide variety of employment law issues. Christie provides commercial and public sector clients with advice on all elements of employment law, from pre-hiring through recruitment, drafting agreements, benefit plans and policies, discipline, promotion, succession planning, termination and post-employment obligations. He deals with employment issues arising out of restructuring in the workplace as a result of corporate transactions and trans-border employment issues.

Christie has been highly recognized throughout his career, including listings in The Legal 500 Canada, The Best Lawyers in Canada©, and is a fellow in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. He serves as co-chair of the Advisory Board at the Centre for Law in the Contemporary Workplace (CLCW) at Queen’s University, Faculty of Law. In 2020, Christie was recognized for his lifetime contributions to the legal profession and, in particular, labor and employment law in Canada, by the Queen’s University Alumni Association with their award of highest honor, the Alumni Achievement Award.
