HOUSTON – September 12, 2022 – Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to announce that Stephen J. Quezada today rejoins the firm’s Houston office as shareholder. Quezada returns to Ogletree Deakins after a brief stint at Texas-based law firm Gray, Reed & McGraw, LLP.
Quezada has practiced labor and employment law for more than a decade, including nearly seven years as an attorney in Ogletree Deakins’ Houston office. Quezada’s practice focuses on advising public and private employers on the full spectrum of labor and employment matters before state and federal courts as well as administrative agencies. He has tried and arbitrated cases involving a variety of claims, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, breach of non-compete agreements, and labor grievance arbitrations pursuant to collective bargaining agreements.
Quezada also regularly assists clients with I-9 compliance, including representation before Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), internal I-9 audits, and work authorization training. Notably, Quezada’s fluency in Spanish allows him to advise clients with large Spanish speaking workforces on employment issues related to workplace training and investigations.
“Stephen’s deep understanding of employment law and commitment to client satisfaction are just a few factors that highlight his embodiment of the firm’s Client Pledge” said Carolyn Russell, office managing shareholder of Ogletree Deakins’ Houston office. “I am thrilled to welcome him back to our Houston office and am looking forward to his continued contributions to our growing practice.”
Quezada frequently speaks and conducts trainings on a variety of workplace topics, ranging from best practices for maintaining regulatory compliance to employment law fundamentals. He is also a frequent writer on trending employment law issues, such as COVID-19 vaccination updates and workplace harassment.
In addition to his legal practice, Quezada is heavily involved in several community and professional organizations, including as a member of the American Bar Association and Hispanic National Bar Association, the treasurer of the Labor & Employment Section of the Houston Bar Association, and a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. Locally, Quezada serves on the Audit Committee for the Space City Credit Union and is the Treasurer for the East End District.
