Ogletree Deakins Expands Presence in Pacific Northwest, Welcomes Sarah Hale as Shareholder in Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. – May 24, 2023  – Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to welcome Sarah Hale as a shareholder in the firm’s Portland, Oregon office. Hale joins Ogletree Deakins from Miller Nash, where she was a partner.

As a trusted counselor, Hale advises and defends employers on a full range of labor and employment issues. She has a breadth of experience counseling clients on everyday workplace matters, including compliance with the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), conducting workplace investigations, drafting workplace policies and employee handbooks, and representing clients in collective bargaining, union contract negotiations, and grievance and interest arbitrations. Hale also defends employers in both state and federal court against claims of discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wrongful discharge, and wage and hour issues.

In addition to her legal practice, Hale frequently publishes and presents on a variety of labor and employment topics. She is heavily involved in her local legal communities, holding membership and leadership roles in numerous organizations, including the Multnomah Bar Association’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee and the Washington State Bar Association’s Board of Governors. She is on the Executive Committee of the Oregon State Bar Labor and Employment Section and is a member of the Oregon Women Lawyers. Hale is also a volunteer attorney for the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project.

Hale earned her J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law and her M.A. and B.A. from the University of Oregon.
