ATLANTA – April 26, 2024 – Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to share the findings from the firm’s fourth annual benchmarking report, Strategies and Benchmarks for the Workplace: Ogletree’s Survey of Key Decision-Makers. The 2024 report comprises responses from more than 1,300 in-house counsel and senior HR professionals at companies of all sizes. The top industries represented include manufacturing, technology, financial services, healthcare, and retail.
“Now in its fourth year, I’m pleased to report that our benchmarking survey of key legal decision-makers had its highest engagement yet,” said Liz Washko, managing shareholder of Ogletree Deakins. “As the patchwork of state and local employment laws continues to expand, this report highlights the most challenging issues for employers and how they are responding. I hope you will enjoy reviewing the report and that it provides useful insights into today’s workplace.”
Again this year, more than half of respondents identified hiring and retention as their primary labor and employment challenge. More than a third cite a lack of candidates as the biggest hurdle in recruiting and hiring employees. Multistate/multijurisdictional compliance and leaves of absence/accommodations are respondents’ second and third overall most challenging issues, respectively.
The 2024 benchmarking report reveals leave of absence laws as respondents’ top multijurisdictional compliance concern, followed by wage and hour laws and pay transparency laws.
The report also touches on how participants are approaching pay range/salary disclosure requirements; diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives; remote work; artificial intelligence; and more.
The 2024 employer survey was conducted from March 7–22, 2024. View the full Strategies and Benchmarks for the Workplace: Ogletree’s Survey of Key Decision-Makers 2024 report here.
