WASHINGTON, D.C. – July 8, 2024 – Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to welcome John S. Ferrer back to the firm as a shareholder in the Washington, D.C. office. Ferrer returns to the firm after serving as Senior Director & Associate General Counsel of Labor Relations at a large publicly traded wholesale grocery distributor.

Ferrer has practiced labor and employment law for more than two decades, serving as an attorney with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and in both in-house and outside counsel capacities. He has significant experience managing myriad aspects of traditional labor matters, including unfair labor practice (ULP) proceedings, union representation campaigns, collective bargaining negotiations, labor arbitrations, employee relations programs, and leadership trainings. In addition, Ferrer has served as lead negotiator in collective bargaining negotiations and conducted workplace trainings related to positive employee relations, collective bargaining, managing in a union environment, and NLRB elections.

“John’s in-house experience adds to his proven track record at the NLRB and in private practice and gives him important insights with which to serve our clients in traditional labor relations matters. This, combined with his extensive experience and broad industry knowledge, will provide immediate benefits to our firm and our clients,” said Jim Murphy, office managing shareholder of Ogletree Deakins’ Washington, D.C. office. “John has a proven commitment to providing premier client service, and we are very excited to welcome him back to the firm.”
