Alex represents employers in state and federal courts, as well as before administrative agencies on a broad range of labor and employment matters, including claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination.
Before joining Ogletree Deakins, Alex served as a law clerk to the Maine Business and Consumer Court. He then spent five years as an Assistant Attorney General in the Litigation Division of the Maine Office of the Attorney General. In that role, Alex defended the State of Maine and its agencies and employees against claims arising under the United States Constitution, the Maine Human Rights Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Alex handled matters at trial and appellate levels in state and federal court and advised the State on liability exposure and risk-mitigation strategies.
Alex’s public-sector experience gives him a practical understanding of how government agencies approach investigations, administrative proceedings, and litigation. He brings that perspective, along with strong research, writing, and courtroom skills, to help employers resolve disputes efficiently and reduce workplace risk.
Outside of the office, Alex enjoys reading, playing golf, and following New England-based sports teams. He and his wife are devoted supporters and season ticket holders of the Portland Hearts of Pine soccer club.
