Corie represents employers in a full range of employment law issues and litigation. Having worked in the HR/legal department of a Fortune 500 outdoor and marine equipment manufacturer, she understands the needs of employers from an in-house perspective and uses a practical business approach to help employers avoid and resolve employee matters, disputes, and litigation. She routinely advises and defends employers in wage and hour matters, including U.S. Department of Labor and Minnesota Department of Labor & Industry investigations, and assists clients with internal wage audits, misclassification analysis, prevailing wage work, travel time, on-call pay, tip practices, overtime and regular rate issues, mandatory meal and rest break issues, and other pay practices and policies.
In addition to her wage and hour practice, Corie routinely advises employers on Minnesota-specific laws, including the Minnesota Paid Leave Law, Earned Sick and Safe Time, time off, accommodations, and drug, cannabis, and alcohol testing. She also assists employers in responding to employee complaints and charges of discrimination, personnel file requests, conducting workplace investigations, preparing severance and other employment agreements, reviewing restrictive and contractor agreements, and defending employers when litigation commences. She guides employers on immigration issues, harassment, discipline, and termination processes and procedures.
Corie serves as Co-Chair of Ogletree Deakins’ Manufacturing Industry Group. In this role, she helps guide the group’s efforts to support manufacturers as they navigate the full range of employment law challenges, from traditional labor relations and workplace safety to wage and hour compliance, offering practical, timely solutions tailored to the unique needs of each workplace and workforce. Her firsthand in-house manufacturing experience strengthens her ability to anticipate and address the issues manufacturing clients face every day.
Corie frequently speaks at various association and insurance groups regarding Minnesota employment law and was the sole author of the Minnesota Wage & Hour blog (2016-2024).
In her free time, Corie is a professional disc golfer and enjoys spending time at the lake, off-roading her Jeep, camping, and hiking. She holds a pilot’s license and serves her community as a Legal Officer for the Civil Air Patrol. She was the organization’s first Diversity Officer and has presented at the National Legal Officer’s College on diversity and inclusion. She spent numerous years as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scouts and was inducted into the Order of the Arrow.
