Daniel Payán

Associate   |   Orange County

Daniel Payán’s practice prioritizes advising and representing employers in a broad range of employment law matters. He helps employers identify legal risks, develop proactive compliance strategies, and navigate complex workplace challenges. He offers clients practical, business-focused legal guidance grounded in firsthand experience managing the workplace issues they face.

Drawing on over a decade of human resources experience in large public-sector organizations before joining the firm, his background enables him to understand the legal issues employers face in addition to the operational and organizational realities behind employment decisions. Daniel assists clients with employment litigation, workplace investigations, disciplinary action, performance management, labor relations, discrimination, harassment and retaliation claims, and employment counseling. He also has expertise in disability accommodation and the interactive process, administering protected leaves of absence, and policy development.

A licensed California attorney in the employment law practice group, Daniel is committed to providing responsive, practical, and solution-oriented counsel. He values building strong client relationships and helping employers create legally compliant, effective, and productive workplaces. His experience helps clients make informed decisions that reduce risk while supporting their business objectives.

Daniel earned his Juris Doctor at UCLA School of Law. He obtained a B.A. in History and a Master in Public Policy from Harvard University. Daniel is fluent in Spanish and enjoys spending time with family and exploring new cities. In 2026, he and his family lived in Sydney and traveled extensively throughout Australia and New Zealand.
