Derek joined the immigration practice at Ogletree Deakins in March 2021. Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, he exclusively practiced immigration law at a large international law firm. Derek counsels and assists employers who seek to obtain nonimmigrant visas and lawful permanent residence on behalf of their employees. He regularly handles a wide range of immigration matters, including specialty occupation visas (H-1B, H1-B1, E-3), nonimmigrant and immigrant petitions for individuals of extraordinary ability (O-1, EB-1), and E visas (Treaty Trader, Treaty Investor). Derek also works closely with clients who seek to sponsor employees for green cards through the PERM labor certification process.
Derek received his B.A. in History and International Relations and his J.D. from Boston University. While in law school, Derek worked as an immigration law clerk at a large international law firm and volunteered with Project Citizenship, which provides pro bono assistance for immigrants applying for citizenship.
