Elizabeth R. Gift

Associate Charlotte

Elizabeth Gift is an Associate with the Charlotte office of Ogletree Deakins focusing her practice on all facets of employment law.

From policy creation to litigation, Ms. Gift is a fully-integrated partner in her clients' employment challenges. An aggressive litigator, Ms. Gift devotes a substantial amount of her practice to employment litigation. From handling discovery-related issues to dispositive motions and beyond, she takes an active role in all aspects of employment-defense litigation. Ms. Gift also has a developing disability rights practice, which includes advising clients on compliance with disability access laws, including Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

In addition, Ms. Gift regularly defends employers before federal administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and has experience handling wage and hour issues, negotiating commercial contracts, and drafting employment agreements.

A graduate of the College of Charleston, Ms. Gift was awarded the Eileen Blain Rudolph Scholar Award for outstanding academic achievement while also working as a reporter and producer for the campus television station "Cougar Television." Following college, Ms. Gift graduated as the Salutatorian of her law school class and served as an Editor of the Law Review and President of the Order of the Crown Society. She also served as a Teaching Assistant in litigation-specific courses while still a law school student. Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, Ms. Gift was an intern with the EEOC - an experience that provided her with a unique perspective into an administrative agency that at times can be a mystery to other employer-side lawyers.
