Greg Guidry

Shareholder Lafayette | New Orleans

Greg Guidry is a Shareholder in the firm’s Lafayette, Louisiana office, a satellite location for the New Orleans office. He is licensed in Louisiana and Texas and has successfully represented management throughout the United States in all aspects of labor and employment law, including advice, training, prevention tactics and litigation for over 35 years. His practice includes traditional labor law (union issues), employment litigation, wrongful termination, wage and hour, and developing employment law issues.

Mr. Guidry also serves as a neutral mediator in employment law disputes. He is active in numerous business and professional associations, including the Society of Human Resource Management, and its local chapter ASHRM, is past Chair of the Louisiana State Bar Association Section of Labor and Employment Law, and serves as management representative on several committees of the American Bar Association’s Section on Labor and Employment Law and other national trade associations. He serves as chair of the Louisiana State Bar Association annual employment law seminar, and frequently lectures and writes on labor and employment law topics. He was elected as a Fellow of the College of Labor & Employment Lawyers, in recognition of his contributions to the field of labor & employment law, and he has served on the Credentials Committee for that group.

Mr. Guidry has contributed to several national books on labor and employment law matters. He is also President of the Management Labor & Employment Roundtable, a national association on labor and employment lawyers and other professionals representing management in labor and employment law matters.


Experience

  • Successfully represented hundreds of employers throughout the United States in union avoidance, union election campaigns, collective bargaining, NLRB proceedings, arbitration, and deunionization efforts.
  • Defended numerous class and collective actions brought under Title VII, Fair Labor Standards Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and other laws.
  • Trained thousands of supervisors on union avoidance and employment litigation prevention techniques throughout the United States and in other countries, in diverse industries.
  • Successfully defended  hundreds of EEOC Charges.
  • Worked with numerous employers in Wage and Hour Division and other governmental labor agency investigations and audits.
  • Acted as outside labor and employment counsel and adviser for local, regional, national and international companies and industry trade associations.
  • Reviewed numerous employee handbooks and employment policies for compliance with labor and employment laws, and assisted numerous employers in the development of lawful and effective employment policies.
  • Acted as counselor for employer clients in effectuating effective and lawful terminations, compliance with the ADA and other federal and state employment laws, and other complex employment law issues.
  • Successfully defended numerous lawsuits involving all aspects of employment law.
