J. Paul Rinnan is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Labor and Employment Law. He graduated summa cum laude from Texas Christian University in 2007 and received his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center in 2010.
Paul represents employers in all types of employment litigation in both federal and state courts, in labor and employment arbitration proceedings, as well as before various administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Department of Labor, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration. He also has experience defending employers against employment discrimination claims under Title VII and the Texas Labor Code, sexual harassment claims, retaliation claims, claims under the Family and Medical Leave Act, wrongful discharge claims, and breach of contract claims. He has also handled collective action litigation under the Fair Labor Standards Act and has litigated disputes involving non-competition agreements and the misappropriation of company confidential information.
In addition to litigation, Paul also advises and counsels employers on employment-related matters, and he has experience with internal investigations, drafts and reviews of employee policies and handbooks, employment agreements, and severance agreements. He also conducts training sessions on general employment matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, employment policies, leaves of absence, requests for accommodations, medical information in the workplace, wage and hour issues, discipline documentation, and best practices for employers.
