James Silvers assists employers with human resources and employment-related matters, including matters related to employee onboarding and background checks, termination, discrimination, and employment contracts. As a member of the firm’s Background Checks Practice Group, James regularly counsels clients on practical, lawful ways to comply with the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act, Title VII, and state mini-FCRAs. As a member of the firm’s RIF/WARN Practice Group, James also regularly advises employers on RIF matters (including ADEA, OWBPA, and WARN issues) and e-signature issues.
After graduation from law school, James served as a Law Clerk to Chief Justice Jean H. Toal of the South Carolina Supreme Court.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, James taught history to high school students, where he honed and refined his teaching and counseling skills.
