Jeffrey (Jeff) Coren is an experienced litigator and trial attorney who concentrates his practice on employment litigation, complex commercial cases, and cross-border disputes.
Jeff regularly represents businesses to enforce employment, non-compete, and non-solicitation agreements. He also represents businesses in actions against disloyal employees and to protect trade secrets, and he defends businesses against claims of unlawful termination. Many of these cases also involve the breach of an asset purchase agreement or a dispute following a company’s investment or acquisition.
Jeff’s practice includes a wide range of business litigation, including shareholder disputes, derivative actions, breach of contract actions, business fraud, judgment enforcements, commercial real estate disputes, construction matters, and mortgage foreclosures. He also represents secured lenders and other creditors in bankruptcy adversary proceedings and contested bankruptcy matters.
Jeff is experienced in international and cross-border disputes, including international arbitration proceedings, disputes involving foreign parties, cross-border discovery, customs litigation, and foreign judgment enforcement. He is co-chair of the International Law Committee of the Bar Association of Erie County and is admitted as a Foreign Legal Consultant in Ontario, Canada, and at the U.S. Court of International Trade.
Jeff counsels clients concerning data privacy laws and cybersecurity matters. He regularly assists clients in response to data breaches, ransomware, cyberattacks, business email compromise, and other data security incidents. He also represents clients in litigation related to data breaches, cybersecurity, technology, cryptocurrency, and other digital assets.
Before joining Ogletree Deakins, Jeff practiced for 15 years in the litigation groups at law firms in Buffalo and New York, including Phillips Lytle LLP and Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP.
