John Walpole is an associate in Ogletree Deakins’ New York City office. John regularly represents employers in federal and state courts and before administrative agencies including the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the New York State Division of Human Rights, the New York City Commission on Human Rights, the United States Department of Labor, and the New York State Department of Labor. John has extensive experience handling all phases of litigation, including drafting and arguing dispositive motions, taking and defending depositions, managing discovery, and successfully mediating complex employment actions.
In addition to litigating all aspects of labor and employment law, John provides management-side advice and counseling to clients on the full range of federal, state, and local labor and employment statutes. In addition, he has experience reviewing and drafting employee handbooks and workplace policies, confidentiality agreements and restrictive covenants, employment agreements, and separation agreements.
Prior to joining the firm, John was an associate in the employment law practice of a midsized full service firm and, before that, obtained broad trial experience while serving as an Assistant Corporation Counsel in the New York City Law Department, Labor & Employment Law Division. He also has been published in Law360.
John graduated from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where he served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution.
