John Williams is a native of Harlan County, Kentucky, and has extensive litigation experience in federal and state courts throughout Kentucky. John has extensive experience in workplace safety, commercial litigation, and employment matters. He has represented employers ranging from small businesses to large, publicly traded companies.
Workplace Safety and Health
John represents and advises clients on workplace safety matters regulated by the Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet under the state’s OSHA-approved plan. John has represented many mining companies in mine safety matters before the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission and in accident and special investigations conducted by the Mine Safety and Health Administration. He has advised mining companies on compliance matters. He is also a frequent speaker at local and national seminars on workplace safety matters.
Labor and Employment Law
John has defended employers in matters involving discrimination, wage and hour claims, and non-compete matters. He has extensive experience in federal and state courts throughout Kentucky.
Commercial Litigation
John has represented clients in a broad range of commercial disputes, including matters involving breach of contract, construction, fraud, insurance coverage, and corporate governance issues.
Community Involvement
John serves on the Board of Directors of the Special Olympics Kentucky, Inc., and served as Board Chair for two years. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Kentucky Bar Association Lawyers Assistance Program (KYLAP) Foundation, Inc., and is a volunteer counselor for KYLAP.
John was also a member of the Board of Directors of Shepherd’s House, Inc. from 2019 to 2025, a sober living facility in Lexington. John was on the Board of the Lexington Children’s Museum, Inc. for almost 10 years, and served as Board Chair for five of those years. He received the 2015 Community Service Alumni Award from the University of Kentucky and the Citizen Lawyer Award from the Fayette County, Kentucky Bar Association in 2017.
