Katie is Of Counsel in the Indianapolis office of Ogletree Deakins and focuses her practice on employment litigation and counseling. She has extensive experience defending employers in disputes before administrative agencies and in state and federal courts in matters involving all types of employment law claims, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and family and medical leave claims.  Katie has represented clients at all stages of the process including pre-litigation counseling and avoidance, investigation, alternative dispute resolution, trial and appeal. Additionally, Katie provides day-to-day counseling to employers on matters impacting the employment relationship, including advising on human resource issues, and developing employee handbooks and policies.

Katie also coordinates the activities of the firm's administrative charges program, Ogletree Deakins EEO Advantage. Through advanced legal project management strategies, innovative technology, and an experienced team of dedicated attorneys, Ogletree Deakins EEO Advantage enables employers to manage efficiently and cost-effectively the growing numbers of administrative charges filed with federal, state, and local agencies nationwide.

Katie received her J.D. in 2002 from Indiana University – Bloomington Mauer School of Law, where she served as a Notes Editor for the Federal Communication Law Journal.


Katie has extensive experience litigating cases for employers in the banking, healthcare and retail industries.  Most recently, she has focused her practice on handling administrative charges before federal, state and local administrative agencies. Katie is skilled in conducting fact investigations, assessing and developing risk strategy, preparing persuasive and effective position statements, limiting and managing agency requests for information, successfully advocating for clients in mediation and/or conciliation efforts, and in ensuring consistency with overall client strategic goals.

Katie has a proven track record of obtaining “no cause” findings on behalf of clients and has successfully mediated favorable outcomes for clients in numerous cases before federal, state and local administrative agencies.
