Kesha partners directly with in-house counsel, executives, managers, HR, and other business stakeholders to provide advice and counseling on the ever-changing landscape of multi-jurisdictional employment laws, including, but not limited to, employee onboarding, leaves of absence and accommodations, wage/hour, discrimination, and retaliation under both federal and applicable state/local regulations. Kesha works diligently alongside organizations to develop strategies and solutions for employment issues that come up in day-to-day operations.
Kesha provides counsel to organizations of all sizes in various industries including retail, manufacturing, construction, hospitality, healthcare, and transportation.
In this role, Kesha regularly:
- Advises key stakeholders on emerging legislative and regulatory changes affecting employment obligations in multi-jurisdictional operations.
- Strategizes with organizations to navigate and implement best practices as employers expand to new states and localities.
- Collaborates with business leaders and People & Culture teams to proactively develop policies and procedures that ensure multi-jurisdictional compliance as well as balance practical considerations and employee relations concerns to cultivate a thriving work environment.
- Provides legal counsel regarding government administrative agency charges and investigations.
Prior to Ogletree, Kesha worked within the legal department of SC Department of Employment and Workforce (SC-DEW) for 9 years. As a former Administrative Hearing Officer with SC-DEW, Kesha conducted administrative proceedings and has experience with wrongful discharge claims, harassment and retaliation claims, claims under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and employment discrimination claims. While at SC-DEW, she was a member of the National Association of Unemployment Insurance Appeals Professionals, affectionately known as NAUIAP, and served on various committees.
Outside of work, Kesha likes to spend time enjoying the outdoor life and traveling with her husband and two young children.
