Counsel   |   Washington

*Currently licensed in Virginia only.

Lars’s practice focuses on occupational safety and health legal and policy issues. He advises and counsels clients seeking to comply with federal and state laws and requirements and challenging citations. He also provides clients a deep understanding of the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission, the federal administrative agency tasked with hearing and deciding employer contests of federal OSHA citations. Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, Lars was an attorney-advisor at both the Commission’s appellate and trial levels. He worked on a variety of matters, including General Duty Clause, machine guarding, process safety management, telecommunications, electrical, and recordkeeping cases, and he provided legal advice to both political appointees and judges.

Lars has demonstrated a strong aptitude and passion for persuasive written communication. In addition to his work at the Commission, he has drafted legislative and regulatory analyses and comments. He previously worked as the Legal Editor for EHS at Bloomberg BNA, where he covered OSHA and MSHA developments, decisions from the respective commissions and federal appeals courts, and their impacts on industries and business interests.

Outside of the office, Lars volunteers as a youth soccer coach with the Arlington Soccer Association and has served on the council and audit committee at his church. He also enjoys golfing, fishing, and ice cream with his family.
