Matthew R. Richardson is an experienced employment attorney and associate at Ogletree Deakins in Los Angeles, California. Matthew is known for his dedication and zealous advocacy on behalf of employers. Matthew assists clients to navigate California’s challenging legal requirements. His expertise spans wage and hour disputes, employment discrimination, wrongful termination, and workplace harassment.

Matthew frequently defends clients against class action claims and representative action claims under the Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA), including preparing motions to compel individual arbitration, which have resulted in individual arbitrations and the dismissal of the proposed class claims. Matthew has also successfully sought the early dismissal of a PAGA action through a state court demurrer on a jurisdictional challenge. 

Matthew has also assisted clients who are facing claims for discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and failure to accommodate. Matthew has successfully prepared and argued a motion for summary judgment on a claim for negligent supervision, hiring and retention of an employee that resulted in a dismissal with prejudice for the client.

Matthew is an active member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA) and serves on the board of the Litigation Section of LACBA.
