Michael represents private and public employers throughout all phases of litigation, before state and federal courts.  Michael also provides advice to firm clients regarding various employment law issues, designed to prevent litigation where possible, while also working with clients to develop and revise internal policies designed to minimize future risk.

Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, Mr. Wilson represented design professionals, construction managers, developers and contractors in a variety of complex litigation and transactional matters involving major infrastructure projects,  transportation projects, eminent domain proceedings and in connection with construction defect litigation before state and federal courts, the American Arbitration Association, and before JAMS.


Experience

  • Counseled clients on a variety of matters in the following areas: Employment & Labor Law; Construction Law; Tort & Product Liability Law; Real Estate Law and Business Transactions
  • Drafted and negotiated commercial agreements on a major California transportation and infrastructure project.
  • Defended a Fortune 500 company in state and federal court in a dispute involving discrimination and wrongful termination claims - working with in-house counsel and the human resources department to conduct internal investigations, employee interviews, respond to aggressive discovery and evaluate internal compliance with company policies and procedures in advance of mediation and trial.
  • Reviewed corporate internal procedures and operating standards - post litigation - to revise and develop new policies designed to reduce future risk and liability exposure.
  • Served as legal counsel for a construction management firm in connection with a multi-million dollar contract dispute involving a California State University campus and an international construction firm on a telecommunications upgrade project.
  • Represented property owners during several eminent domain proceedings, in connection with California infrastructure projects in the greater San Francisco Bay Area.
  • Obtained a bench trial victory in a multi-million dollar, multi-phase litigation proceeding stemming from a University of California campus expansion project.
  • Represented an architectural services company hired for a new visual and performing arts center at a community college, resulting in an arbitration judgment award of more than $1 million for the client.
