Paul is a native of North Carolina and has spent the past 21 years resolving workplace disputes for his clients. Paul has litigated more than 110 federal court lawsuits, the majority of which involved employment-based legal claims. He regularly assists in-house counsel and business leaders in high-stakes labor and employment matters. Paul provides a practical, client-focused approach to minimize legal risk and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Paul is exceptional at meeting the needs of employers with multi-state operations and is a trusted advocate for local, regional and national clients. He has been a zealous advocate for clients in proceedings before numerous federal, state and local administrative agencies. Paul has a growing education law practice and has handled numerous claims before the U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights, and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. In addition to litigation, Paul’s legal practice includes advising clients on day-to-day workplace issues, conducting investigations,, drafting employment agreements, facilitating corporate restructuring and assisting clients in performance management.
Paul has given 63 presentations to various executive, management and human resources groups. His presentations focus on efficiently and amicably resolving workplace issues to foster productive work environments.
Prior to law school, Paul hiked more than 1,200 miles of the Appalachian Trail. Paul’s five-month journey began in Springer Mountain, Georgia; continued through the Smoky Mountains in North Carolina and Tennessee, the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, into Pennsylvania; and ended at the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area in New Jersey. Paul’s work history includes a stint as a Staff Assistant on Capitol Hill for Congressman Walter B. Jones.
Paul resides in Raleigh with his wife, Ingrid, and two sons. In his free time, Paul is an avid tennis player and enjoys fly fishing and numerous outdoor pursuits.
