Viki Economides Farrior is a trial lawyer with nearly 15 years of litigation experience. Prior to joining Ogletree, Viki was a trial attorney with the Department of Justice Tax Division and a Special Trial Attorney with the IRS Office of Chief Counsel. During her ten years of public service, Viki litigated some of the government’s largest and most consequential civil tax cases in U.S. District, Tax, and Bankruptcy courts. She has experience with jury and bench trials and has been responsible for all aspects of civil litigation, including case strategy, motions practice, conducting discovery, trial practice, and negotiating settlement. Her expertise included corporate, partnership, and private equity tax matters, including complex financial transactions and fraud.
Since joining Ogletree, Viki has developed a specialized advisory and litigation practice. She regularly advises businesses on state and federal tax questions and is adept at navigating Oklahoma and IRS collections actions and civil penalties, including the Trust Fund Recovery Penalty. She guides clients who have received notices from the IRS and assists them in complying with their responsibilities while defending their interests. She has recently rendered advice on the following issues: proper classification of workers, compliance with the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, reasonable cause and good faith defense to civil penalties, tax-free reorganizations, and a variety of miscellaneous issues that rest at the intersection of employment and tax law. Viki’s litigation experience has served her well in her representation of clients in tax, employment, and trade secret misappropriation cases. And given her unique skill set, businesses regularly enlist Viki to conduct workplace investigations into a variety of specialized issues, such as fraud, misuse of company funds, forensic accounting, and financial analysis.
