Ogletree Deakins Launches Multistate Advice and Counseling Practice Group

   |   Press Release

ATLANTA – August 29, 2022 – Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to officially launch a national Multistate Advice and Counseling Practice Group. The group is chaired by Dee Anna Hays, a shareholder in the firm’s Tampa office who has more than a decade of experience representing and advising multistate employers.

As indicated in Ogletree Deakins’ 2022 Workplace Benchmarking Report, multistate compliance ranks as one of the most challenging issues for employers. Ogletree Deakins’ Multistate Advice and Counseling Practice Group comprises more than 40 attorneys who have extensive experience helping multistate employers remain compliant with current employment laws in all U.S. jurisdictions and provide timely updates when new laws emerge. Attorneys in the group regularly develop and update employment handbooks, policies, procedures, agreements, and applications. They also counsel employers on best practices as they expand to new states and localities, advise employers on legal issues arising under federal, state, and local laws, and assist employers on the full range of workplace decisions affecting multistate compliance.

The firm offers a wide breadth of client-facing resources for multistate employers, including the ODComply platform. This user-friendly solution provides the latest legal developments and updates on the most common multistate issues, including background checks, e-signatures, employment applications, marijuana, and state leaves. In addition to ODComply, the firm offers a variety of other complimentary resources to assist clients with multistate compliance, including state law maps, 50-state surveys, employment desk references, timely articles via the firm’s blog, and more.

“While advising clients with multistate operations has been a longstanding area of practice at Ogletree Deakins, we formed this practice group in response to increasing client demand for assistance with complex multistate compliance issues,” said Dee Anna Hays, chair of the Multistate Advice and Counseling Practice Group. “By harnessing the knowledge and experience of the group’s talented attorneys, we are able to provide a more streamlined approach to helping clients solve their multistate issues.”
