The New Jersey Division on Civil Rights (DCR), the state agency responsible for handling charges of discrimination, has just published a new manual addressing employer responsibilities in connection with the employment of Sexual & Gender Minorities. The manual contains a Voluntary Self-Assessment Checklist for Employers, a Glossary of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender Terminology, copies of New Jersey Anti-Discrimination Posters, a Fact Sheet on Discrimination Against Sexual & Gender Minorities, and Attorney General Advisory Opinions on the New Jersey Civil Union Act. Employers should familiarize themselves with the DCR’s new manual in order to ensure their employment policies and practices with regard to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered employees are in compliance with changing state law in this area.
