On July 31, 2024, the Michigan Supreme Court reinstated the 2018 voter-initiated version of the Earned Sick Time Act, which generally provides for more paid sick leave time and requires smaller employers that were previously exempted to comply with the Act. The court also reinstated the Improved Workforce Opportunity Wage Act, restoring an accelerated minimum hourly wage and tip credit schedule. Both reinstated laws will take effect on February 21, 2025. In this webinar, the speakers will outline what changes employers may need to make to their policies to comply with the Earned Sick Time Act, discuss potential liabilities for failure to comply, and explain what the changes to minimum wage and tip credit mean for employers.
