Charles Thompson and Leslie Wallis will review the new employment-related legislation recently signed by Governor Gavin Newsom, which will take effect on January 1, 2026. These new laws include additional compliance obligations under the Cal-WARN Act. Danielle Ochs, a shareholder in the firm’s San Francisco and co-chair of the Technology Practice Group, will explain the new California laws and regulations relating to artificial intelligence (AI) and automated decision-making systems, as well as provide insights from the California Civil Rights Department on AI. Finally, Leslie and Charles will discuss recent court decisions related to employment issues in California, including new arbitration and sexual harassment cases.Â
