I-9 Compliance Series: Part 1—Form Preparation and Document Review

The I-9 compliance webinar series is designed for attorneys and HR professionals who are new to the employment eligibility verification process, seek a refresher, or want to understand the consequences of noncompliant I-9 practices. This series will cover the key elements of the compliance framework, highlight the importance of understanding the mechanics of this challenging form, and discuss the potential pitfalls of noncompliance. In the first part of our I-9 compliance series, the speakers will briefly address the completion of Section 1, explain the basic process for document review in Section 2 (as well as reverification in Section 3), and outline the alternative procedure for document review. Additionally, the speakers will discuss some newer document combinations that are now considered acceptable but are not listed on the Form I-9 Lists of Acceptable Documents.
