Now that the snow season will soon be upon us, employers with parking facilities should remember that the law requiring the removal of snow and ice from handicapped parking spaces was amended in January 2008 to require the removal of snow and ice within 24 hours (instead of 48 hours) after the weather condition causing the snow or ice ceases.  The amended bill also increases the penalty for a violation from $200-$400 fine per space that is obstructed to $500-$1,000 per space that is obstructed.
