NASHVILLE – June 26, 2023 – Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to announce that Benjamin (Ben) Perry has joined the firm’s Nashville office as of counsel. Perry joins from Bradley Arant Boult Cummings, where he focused his practice on cybersecurity and data privacy matters.

“The rapidly evolving cybersecurity and data privacy landscape continues to pose unique legal challenges for our clients, who have a growing need for counsel and representation in these areas,” said Simon McMenemy, chair of Ogletree Deakins’ Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Practice Group. “Ben’s breadth of experience in this area will prove to be a critical asset to our growing Cybersecurity and Data Privacy practice group and our clients. Perry has extensive experience representing clients across myriad industries on both regulatory compliance and litigation matters. He regularly advises clients on compliance with state, federal, and international data privacy and security laws, data breach notification laws, and other U.S. and international privacy and data security requirements. In addition, Perry assists clients with incident response plans, tabletop exercises, privacy policies and data collection disclosures, Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policies, employee monitoring policies and related disclosures, master services agreements, marketing agreements, business associate agreements, Software as a Service (SaaS) agreements, data processing agreements, and third-party vendor contracts.

Perry is a designated Certified Information Privacy Professional for Europe (CIPP/E) and the United States (CIPP/US) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals. He regularly speaks at conferences on the ever-changing privacy and data security landscape and has served as an advisor to various fintech companies through a startup company accelerator program. Perry earned his J.D. from Samford University, M.S. from the University of Alabama, and B.S. from Birmingham-Southern College.
