On September 4, 2024, Governor Kathy Hochul signed the New York Retail Worker Safety Act, which requires New York employers with 10 or more retail employees to implement a written workplace violence prevention policy and provide interactive training to employees upon hiring and annually thereafter. The new law also requires employers with 500 or more retail employees nationwide to provide access to panic buttons by January 1, 2027.
