California’s ‘No Robo Bosses Act’: New Restrictions on Employers’ Use of AI
On September 30, 2026, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a bill into law—known as the “No Robo Bosses Act”—that prohibits employers from relying “solely” on tools powered by artificial intelligence (AI) to make disciplinary or termination decisions without human review, making California perhaps the most restrictive state on employers’ use of AI to make employment decisions.
