On March 19, 2025, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), led by Acting Chair Andrea Lucas, issued technical assistance in the form of a Q&A focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). The document, titled “What You Should Know About DEI-Related Discrimination at Work,” explains how Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 applies to DEI initiatives and previews the EEOC’s position on certain DEI initiatives. The EEOC and the Department of Justice (DOJ) also jointly issued a fact sheet titled “What To Do If You Experience Discrimination Related to DEI at Work,” which encourages employees to file charges with the EEOC if they experience DEI-related discrimination. Join our presenters as they unpack these technical assistance documents and discuss how employers can design, implement, and assess legally compliant DEI initiatives.
