OFCCP Publishes Slightly Lower VEVRAA Hiring Benchmark for 2022

On April 8, 2020, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy signed Executive Order No. 122, requiring the closure of all non-essential construction projects beginning at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2020. The executive order does not define “non-essential construction project”; instead, it lists the following “essential construction projects” that may continue to operate.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) postponed the implementation of new regulations requiring an employer to report to CMS any payment to a Medicare-eligible person, where that payment is for medical benefits or is in exchange for a release that waives claims for medical benefits. Effective December 21, 2010, the Michigan Wages and Fringe Benefits Act (MWFBA) was amended permitting Michigan employers to require their Michigan-based employees be paid via direct deposit or via a payroll debit card. Previously, employers had to issue paper checks if the employee did not give his or her “full, free and written” consent to direct deposit. Likewise, unless payroll debit cards were in place prior to January 1, 2005, “full, free and written” consent also was required for use of payroll debit cards.
