Keeping Current in California with Leslie and Charles

On October 14, 2023, Governor Gavin Newsom signed the final employment-related laws passed this year by the California legislature. Leslie and Charles will review these new laws and provide an update on the bills that were vetoed. Karen Tynan, the West Coast chair of the firm’s Workplace Safety and Health Practice Group, will offer updates on the state’s pending indoor heat regulations. Tae Phillips, co-chair of the firm’s Drug Testing Practice Group, will discuss the changes to California’s cannabis employment law taking effect in January 2024. Other topics will include the EEOC’s proposed workplace harassment guidance, the federal Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, and recent harassment and wrongful termination cases.
