Governmental Affairs

The Government Affairs practice group is dedicated to helping clients navigate the federal legislative and regulatory workplace policy landscape.  Our attorneys help ensure that our clients understand not just what the law is, but where it may be going, and how it may impact their operations.

Pending legislative and regulatory policies can threaten a client’s individual business success and broader industry interests. Legal actions and government regulatory enforcement can pose a serious – and costly – risk to clients’ business operations. At the same time, public policies and regulatory issues can present opportunities for clients. Through a strategic, team-based approach partnering with clients and their in-house staff, together with the experience of Ogletree Deakins’ lawyers throughout the country, our Government Affairs attorneys can help protect our clients’ interests in the dynamic workplace policy arena.

Ogletree attorneys in the Government Affairs practice group offer knowledge, experience and bipartisan access to key decision makers, all while drawing upon the experience of members of other Ogletree Deakins’ practice groups that may have substantive, day-to-day experience with the issues that are central to a client’s problems. Those problems may arise before the U.S. Department of Labor, the National Labor Relations Board, and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, among other federal agencies. Changing immigration and workforce mobility policies are additional areas in which our clients seek counsel.

The Government Affairs Practice Group:

  • Monitors, analyzes, and reports on evolving federal and state legislation, regulations, and enforcement policies
  • Produces timely electronic alerts, webinars, one-on-one briefings, and custom tracking of fast-breaking legislative, regulatory and political developments
  • Generates pro-active opportunities for clients to influence and shape legislation, regulations, and policy, rather than just react after the fact
  • Represents clients through direct advocacy of client interests before Congress and federal agencies
  • Prepares and files written comments for clients in rulemakings before federal agencies

The Government Affairs practice group has a proven track record of working with clients to monitor the status and impact of workplace policy related legislation, executive orders, regulatory shifts, and sub-regulatory initiatives to ensure our clients are making sound strategic decisions.
